This album is the audio component of 'Fluencies', an interactive sound map installed as part of the group exhibition 'Speaking With the River', 10 March to 2 May 2021 at North Coast Regional Gallery, Ballina, Australia. 'Speaking With the River' is curated by LabX at Southern Cross University, Lismore, Australia.

The sound map explores a section of the Richmond River catchment in northern New South Wales from Mallanganee in the west to Ballina in the east, and from Lismore in the north, south to Bungawalbin National Park.

This part of the river flows through the unceded Country of the Bundjalung Nation.
